The Pleasant Cafe has a rich history in the Roslindale area dating back to the early 1900's. Originally known as the Parkway Pizza House, the Pleasant Cafe was one of the first places in the area to serve pizza. The establishment was built in 1926 but was an Italian market. It was not until 1934 that it was given a license to serve beer and wine. Originally the bar was located in what is now the dining room side of the restaurant. In 1942, the Pleasant Cafe received a full liquor license and the bar was brought down to where it is today. A new front was constructed in 1949 and the well known neon sign was erected. In 1952, the building was enlarged to allow for more seating. It remains almost entirely the same as it did back then. The menu at the Pleasant Cafe aims to please a variety of tastes. Whether you are in the mood for our famous pizza or prime rib, chicken parmigiania or fresh seafood, New York sirloin or chicken cacciatore, we have a selection to please all.
